I had lunch with some friends recently and the ever popular game of "Best fill in the blank Ever" began with my friend Jon proclaiming Walking in Memphis as the best song ever! This boy was so confident in this songs position as best ever that when he asked the question he didn't immediately follow with the answer, as in his mind it should have been common knowledge to the other 9 people at the table that this 80's one hit wonder was the best song ever! He even rebuttaled my claim of "one hit wonder" by saying that once Marc Cohen wrote Walking in Memphis he had written the perfect song so why would he need to write another. I got two things from Jon's proclamation that day, first a big laugh... this guy loves him some Walking in Memphis, second the overwhelming need to share my indisputable best songs ever! I have broken them down into categories, that I made up, and included not only song title and artist, but the ever important best line! Songs are about the words after all, and if you are missing the words you are missing the song! So for Jon's sake I will say the the best line in Walking in Memphis is "she asked me are you a Christian boy? and I said ma'm I am tonite"
